In Japan, there is a fleeting period in spring when the sakura (cherry) trees are in full bloom. In a tradition known as “Hanami”, people go out to celebrate the blooming of these flowers and the change of season.
Born in Kagoshima, Ukiyo Blossom & Yuzu gins are made from a rice crop that will be distilled in a shōchū still. The shōchū is then redistilled with juniper, tangerine and spices. It is in the last step that the delicacy of the sakura flowers and the yuzu lemon infuse. The result is a traditional Japanese gin distilled with a masterful hand in the shadow of the Sakurajima volcano.
