Where does Christian Drouin’s gin come from – Pira?
Three generations of a family of enthusiasts now succeed one another at the helm of the Christian Drouin house, one of the jewels in the crown of Calvados production, and in particular of Calvados Pays d’Auge. Installed since 1991 in a former stud farm located in Coudray-Rabut near Pont l’Evêque, the Domain has an exceptional range of wines. With the most beautiful and exhaustive collection of old vintage Calvados, the oldest of which dates from 1939, Christian Drouin is to Calvados what Gordon & MacPhail is to whisky: the best!
How is this gin made?
Pira is a new gin recipe created by Maison Drouin, which continues to explore the aromas of the Normandy region. In this new edition, the pear is at the center of the recipe. Avariety The Norman pear, called Domfront, is associated with juniper, vanilla, lemon, black pepper and iris root, the flower that was once the roof of Norman cottages. Pira is made according to the same principles as Christian Drouin’s Gin; each herb is macerated and redistilled separately to optimize the extraction of aromas. The distillates are then blended before bottling.
